As you would have gathered from my Instagram feed, we headed up to Queensland for the first week of the school holidays. Lucky us got to stay in my parents in law unit in Burleigh Heads which is in a great location opposite the beach and just a short drive to the centre of the Gold Coast. We had perfect weather for our stay and just enjoyed not having the daily rush of general life! Here are some additional pictures from our stay and some of the fun things we enjoyed doing.
A tradition: the Big Banana at Coffs Harbour. We stayed at Coffs Harbour on the way up and the way back, just to break up the drive.
The parks we have seen in Queensland are so much better than the ones in Sydney. This one is opposite our apartment in Burleigh Heads, and we spent a great afternoon at a playground at Broadbeach.
We enjoyed a couple of easy dinners out at the North Burleigh Surf Club. Its perfect for the kiddies and the service was fast. We even spotted some whales on our last night! Here we are on our walk there.
We did a glow worm tour at Mount Tambourine for something different. Unfortunately you can't take photos of the worms as it will kill them! So pretty seeing them all lit up like little stars all over the cave.
Millie just being random!
Seaworld! We went for a mammoth 2 days. Being school holidays it was quite busy and one day was just not going to cut it. Its been a couple of years since we have been to Seaworld and since that time they have added Nickolodeon Land which has heaps of little rides for the kiddies. We spent most of our time here interspersed with visits to the dolphins, seals, sharks, sting rays, polar bears and mermaids (yep, they had mermaids in one of the tanks for the school holidays!). Day 1 was great, everyone was euphoric and buoyant. Day 2, everyone was a bit more tired and cranky!
Putt putt with small children is kind of fun, but also kind of not.... slightly stressful!
We also headed to the newly revamped Pacific Fair (no photos from there because, this mummy was busy checking out the shops). Definitely worth a look - lots of great shops, new restaurants and cool outdoor spaces.
