South Eastern Australia has been hit by a bit of a cold snap in recent weeks. Of course, we aren't talking the kind of cold weather that the Northern hemisphere experiences but for us it has been mighty cold! So cold in fact that there has been snow falling (and not just at ski fields!). This weekend we made a snap decision to do a day trip to the lovely Blue Mountains area (about an hour and a half drive for us) to try and find some snow to play in.
An 8.30am start time, a car full of snacks, an ipad and warm clothing and we were off! Unfortunately there were some roads closed so we could not reach the best snow points but we could drive as far as Leura which was where we based ourselves.
Leura is a gorgeous town. Lots of nice restaurants and shops (sadly just window shopping for me!). We had a lovely lunch and then did a drive around the streets on the hunt for some left over ice/snow. And we found it! (side note: this was actually a reserve connected to a family's home but they were happy for us to have a play - thank goodness!)
Here are some pics from our snow session. It was so wonderful to have family time after my first long week back in the office. Thanks to Sophie for lending me your beanie - Mummy was underprepared for the cool weather.
