I have to admit I'm not regularly getting paint out for the girls to get arty. Occasionally yes, but to be honest I find the aftermath of painting with all the clean up and having endless bits of paper (heavily) covered in paint, is not my idea of a good time. Problem (for me) is that Sophie (aged 4) loves crafting. She'd do it all day if she could (luckily for her she gets her fair share of arting and crafting at kindy). Millie is still pretty little so I don't get hounded by her for crafts - but I'm sure I will!
I had no excuse though when the cutest little painting packs arrived from Blank Canvas Gifts (BCG)- one for each of the girls. BCG provide everything your budding artist needs to create their own canvas (100% cotton items like painting smocks, tea towels, cushion covers, t shirts, hats etc) as well as the paints and paint brushes ready to go. Plus as an added bonus the packs come beautifully packaged (I love great packaging!).
I literally pulled out the items out of the pack, opened the paints and away they went. Sophie absolutely loved it. She was busy planning and painting her art smock for an hour on a rainy Sunday. The perfect entertainment! Sure, I wanted to take charge and reign in her 'flamboyant' design style but I decided to bite my tongue and let her enjoy the process. And she did. She is so proud of her new art smock and I have to admit it turned out pretty well.
Millie got a tea towel to paint, and immediately I thought it would be a perfect Mother's Day present for my mother in law - the girls' Grandy. She's a crafter and would love receiving something so special from her littlest grand daughter. Millie was a little skeptical about the process (check out her pic!) but I think we came out with a pretty good team effort. And I know her Grandy will adore it.
Having everything all packed together in an easy bag means set up is so straightforward. I didn't even mind the clean up. Such an easy and fun activity for the kids - and they come so beautifully packed they would make a wonderful gift.
